Baseball Recap: Providence School Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Providence School can now relate to. They fell 7-2 to the Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Stallions' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Providence School got a good showing from Ryan Smith, who struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. That's the fewest hits Smith has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Preston Ricchini was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Providence School's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Providence School does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, they will take on Trinity Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.9, the Conquerors 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
