Softball Recap: Santa Clara Takes Down Jurupa Hills in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Santa Clara rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Jurupa Hills Spartans.

Kadyn Sanchez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Grace Castorena, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. Ilani Rios was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Santa Clara kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Santa Clara's record is now 14-7. As for Jurupa Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.
