You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Leake County's strategy against Mount Olive on Thursday. The Leake County Gators were the clear victor by a 60-35 margin over the Mount Olive Pirates. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leake County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was LaTavean Fortune, who went 7 of 12 en route to 20 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Fortune is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaquailyn Pippen, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Leake County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Leake County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.3 points per game. As for Mount Olive, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leake County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Taylorsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Olive, they will take on Lawrence County in a tournament on Monday.
