Baseball Game Preview: Shafter Generals vs. Kennedy Thunderbirds

For the second straight game, Shafter will face off against Kennedy. The Generals will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Shafter's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Kennedy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Shafter gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Kennedy 16-4. Considering the Generals have won seven matchups by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shafter got a massive performance out of Noah Bill, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Bill posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jaime Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Shafter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Shafter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
