Softball Game Preview: South Bend Adams Eagles vs. Mishawaka Marian Knights

South Bend Adams is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mishawaka Marian Knights at 5:30 p.m.

Two weeks ago, South Bend Adams didn't have quite enough to beat Westview and fell 7-6.

South Bend Adams saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angela McNellis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Emma Schell was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Mishawaka Marian never got on the board in their matchup last Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against LaVille last Friday. They blew past the Lancers 32-18. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won three in a row.

Halle Pedraza was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklynn Robichaud, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Mishawaka Marian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .755. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Mishawaka Marian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Bend Adams, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

South Bend Adams took their win against Mishawaka Marian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
