After a string of 12 wins, Gray's Creek's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 3-0 to the South View Tigers. The match marked the first time this season in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.

Hailey McFarley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Gray's Creek's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 16-2. As for South View, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Gray's Creek and South View will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Bears see the field they'll take on Jack Britt at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for South View, their break will end when they face Cape Fear at 7:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
