Baseball Recap: Middletown Starts Season with Win Against Eastern Lebanon County

Middletown had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Eastern Lebanon County Raiders. For the Blue Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Ben Nordai looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Middletown let Michael Swartz and J.P. Horetsky run wild. Swartz scored a run while going 4-for-5, while Horetsky scored two runs while going 2-for-4. George Hartwick was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Middletown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Eastern Lebanon County now has a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Middletown will venture away from home to challenge Northern Lebanon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Eastern Lebanon County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-2 defeat against West York Area on the 19th.
