Baseball Recap: Lawson Lightning vs. Chester County Eagles
Lawson extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 22-13 in the process. They came up short against the Chester County Eagles, falling 9-3. That's two games in a row now that the Lightning have lost by exactly six runs.
Lawson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mario Craig, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Chester County, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.
On Chester County's side, Dean Estes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. In other batting news, Chester County let Brooks Johnson and Caleb Cole run wild. Johnson got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run, while Cole got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI Cole has posted since back in April. Ethan Burks also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
