Thornton Academy is 7-2 against Cheverus since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Thornton Academy Trojans will take on the Cheverus Stags at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Thornton Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Sanford, taking the game 62-51. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Cheverus entered their tilt with Gorham on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took their game with ease, bagging a 68-40 win over the Rams. The Stags have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Cheverus' victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Thornton Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Thornton Academy couldn't quite finish off Cheverus when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 66-64. Can Thornton Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
