Basketball Preview: Fort Dorchester Patriots vs. West Ashley Wildcats

Two dominant guards in Cazz Williams and Damani White are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fort Dorchester Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the West Ashley Wildcats at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Dorchester has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Even though Stall scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Fort Dorchester still came out on top. Fort Dorchester took their contest against the Warriors 71-58. Given Fort Dorchester's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Warriors are ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Dorchester can attribute much of their success to Jordan Wright, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals, and Williams, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wright has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryan Bright, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, West Ashley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a tough 65-43 loss at the hands of Summerville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Ashley has scored all season.

Fort Dorchester's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for West Ashley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8.

Fort Dorchester came up short against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in January, falling 49-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of West Ashley's Lavelle Minus, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Now that Fort Dorchester knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
