Basketball Game Preview: Dartmouth Indians vs. Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders

The Dartmouth Indians will head out on the road to take on the Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dartmouth has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Somerset Berkley Regional will arrive with eight straight victories.

On Saturday, Dartmouth was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-45 to New Bedford. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Whalers are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Somerset Berkley Regional made easy work of Case on Friday and carried off a 57-31 win. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Dartmouth better keep an eye on Finnian Bjork. He was instrumental in Somerset Berkley Regional's win, going 5 of 6 en route to 13 points and seven boards. Brendan Mcdonald was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Somerset Berkley Regional pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Dartmouth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Things could have been worse for Dartmouth, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 80-65 loss to Somerset Berkley Regional when the teams last played on January 6th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mcdonald, who went 10 for 16 on his way to 30 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
