Baseball Game Preview: Eastside Catholic Crusaders vs. Lakeside Lions

For the second straight game, Eastside Catholic will face off against Lakeside. The Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eastside Catholic 3.5, Lakeside 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Eastside Catholic proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Lakeside 2-1.

Tristan Weigum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. Eastside Catholic is undefeated when Weigum allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Eastside Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Crain, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Crain a new career-high.

Lakeside is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.25 runs. As for Eastside Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
