Basketball Recap: Glenn Takes a Loss

Glenn and Culver Academies squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Glenn had to settle for second. They took a hard 47-33 fall against the Culver Academies Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Eagles are ranked 48th).

When it comes to explaining why Glenn lost, don't look at Mia Hurford. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 10 to rack up 21 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Hurford a new career-high in points.

Culver Academies got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jimara Combs out in front who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayla Herron, who posted 11 points.

Glenn's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Culver Academies, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-5.

Glenn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Culver Academies, they will face off against Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Highland will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Culver Academies surely won't give up without a fight.
