Softball Recap: Field's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

Field dropped their record down to 13-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Manchester Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 9-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Manchester, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

For Manchester's part, Rachel Baker was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts Baker has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Konen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alli Hodgkinson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Field will face off against Streetsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Manchester, they will square off against Canton South at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
