Basketball Recap: Sudan Takes a Loss

If Sudan was riding high fresh off their 83-61 takedown of Lockney last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sudan Hornets were beaten by the Farwell Steers 83-32 on Friday. The contest marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Farwell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Jaime out in front who went 6 for 10 en route to 19 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. Jaime has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Natalie Wade was another key player, going 8 of 12 on her way to 21 points and four blocks.

Sudan's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8. As for Farwell, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-3.

Sudan and Farwell should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Sudan (ranked 417th) will meet Bovina (ranked 938th) at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sudan will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Meanwhile, Farwell will face off against Lockney at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday up 1,136 places (33 vs. 1169).
