Baseball Game Preview: Mayfield Panthers vs. Middleburgh Knights

Mayfield hasn't had much luck against Middleburgh recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Mayfield has given up an average of 15.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mayfield is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 11-0 to Duanesburg.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Middleburgh and Berne-Knox-Westerlo meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Bulldogs.

Middleburgh's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Mayfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Mayfield came up short against Middleburgh in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-7. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
