Basketball Recap: Damonte Ranch Skates Past Oakland with Ease

After losing to Oakland the last time they met, Damonte Ranch decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mustangs simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Wildcats 60-31.

Damonte Ranch was led to victory by Jazmine Monges and Kylee Moscove. Monges went 6-for-12 on her way to 15 points and eight steals, while Moscove shot 47% from the field en route to 17 points. What's more, Monges also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Mya Ghisletta, who posted eight points.

Damonte Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

The win got Damonte Ranch back to even at 2-2. As for Oakland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Damonte Ranch will welcome North Valleys at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points in their last three games. Oakland will take on Campolindo in a holiday battle on the 16th.
