Softball Game Preview: Sanger Apaches vs. Madera Coyotes

The Sanger Apaches will face off against the Madera Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sanger will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Sanger's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Edison as they made off with a 10-0 win.

The result came thanks to Emma Hernandez's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elissandra Reyna, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samantha Guerra, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Madera earned a 4-0 victory over Sanger West on Tuesday. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Isabella Aguirre, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Sanger West off the board. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Aguirre.

On the hitting side, Madera's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Destinee Avila, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brilynn Santiago was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Madera's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Sanger, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
