Baseball Recap: Perry Comes Up Short

Perry extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 6-20. They lost 11-3 to the Morrison Wildcats. The Maroons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

As for Morrison, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Considering they have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Morrison's part, Landon Riley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Riley a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Sterlin Casey was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kaden Meador was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Perry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Morrison, they will square off against Stroud at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
