Softball Recap: Windham Sets Scoring Season-High Against Harding

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Windham). They were the clear victors by a 23-12 margin over the Harding Skippers on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bombers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Windham got a massive performance out of Makenzi Blockinger, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave Blockinger a new career-high. Kyliegh Simpson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Windham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .604. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Windham and bumps their season record up to 4-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Harding, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windham will host Badger at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bombers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Harding, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Bristol at 5:00 p.m. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Skippers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
