Football Game Preview: Lawton Wolverines vs. Altus Bulldogs

The Lawton Wolverines will head out to take on the Altus Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Lawton's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Carl Albert on Thursday. They took a blow against the Titans, falling 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Titans are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Altus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 41-35 to Guthrie. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Altus saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jeymon Reed threw for 228 yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Lawton and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Altus, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Lawton and Altus were almost perfectly matched up when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but Lawton suffered an agonizing 29-28 loss. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
