Softball Recap: Carbondale Find Success

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Carbondale nor DuQuoin made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Terriers came out on top against the Indians by a score of 4-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Terriers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

The result came thanks to Lauren Lehman's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lillian Graham, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Dyer, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Carbondale and bumps their season record up to 13-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for DuQuoin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.

Carbondale will head out to challenge Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for DuQuoin, they will be playing at home against Carlyle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
