Recap: Elmira Express vs. Catholic Central Crusaders
It was a good run, but the Elmira Express unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 69-59 to Catholic Central. While losing is never fun, Elmira can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Catholic Central is ranked fifth).
Catholic Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sei'Mir Roberson led the charge by scoring 26 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Xavjon Arroyo, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Elmira's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Catholic Central, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Elmira will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Vestal at 7:15 p.m. As for Catholic Central, they will head out on the road to take on Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
