Soccer Game Preview: Surry County vs. Franklin

The Surry County Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Franklin Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Surry County's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Surry County's offense. They came up short against Arcadia last Friday, falling 8-0. One reason for the loss might be Surry County's aggressive play style: three Surry County players were handed yellow cards.

Surry County was without their leading scorer, Khai Briggs, in Friday's matchup. With Briggs sitting this one out, Eric Daniels got some extra time on the pitch (60 vs. his season average of 34.1).

Meanwhile, after soaring to nine goals the game before, Franklin was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 8-0 to Southampton. Franklin haven't had much luck with Southampton recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Surry County's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
