Basketball Game Preview: Hayden Tigers vs. Rangely Panthers

Hayden is 1-9 against Rangely since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Hayden Tigers take on the Rangely Panthers at 5:30 p.m.

Hayden's tournament run continued when they took on West Grand back in December of 2024. Hayden fell 52-43 to West Grand.

Despite their loss, Hayden saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Olivia Svoboda, who went 9 of 13 en route to 19 points and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Svoboda is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Taryn Schlim, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Rangely put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to North Fork for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-33 win. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Rangely's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Hayden, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Hayden took a serious blow against Rangely when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 90-27. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rangely's Miah Wren, who went 12 of 18 on her way to 33 points and seven steals.
