Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Hoover Patriots

Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against Hoover recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rough Riders will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 3:30 p.m.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Roosevelt and Torres meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again last Thursday. The Rough Riders fell just short of the Toros by a score of 5-4.

Roosevelt saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manny Molano, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Molano has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Meanwhile, Hoover posted their closest win since March 25th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Liberty 2-1. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Hawks on their field since February 27, 2019.

Hoover has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7-1.
