Football Recap: Amarie Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pascagoula over Picayune

Pascagoula was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-36 heartbreaker at the hands of the Picayune Maroon Tide. The Panthers gained 96 more yards on the day, but it was the Maroon Tide that made the best use of them.

Pascagoula lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Amarie Jackson, who rushed for 157 yards on only nine carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Norvel, who rushed for 106 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Pascagoula's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Picayune, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pascagoula will square off against rival Long Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Picayune is set to challenge their familiar foe Hancock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
