Softball Game Preview: Southern Lee Cavaliers vs. Riverside Christian Academy Royals

The Southern Lee Cavaliers will square off against the Riverside Christian Academy Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Southern Lee has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Riverside Christian Academy will arrive with nine straight wins.

Southern Lee lost 18-5 to Lee County on Monday.

Maggie Lucas and Brooke Simmons stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lucas went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base, while Simmons scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Simmons has posted since back in April of 2024. Austyn Brinkley also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Riverside Christian Academy's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They blew past Capitol Encore Academy 10-0. Fans of the Royals have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Riverside Christian Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
