Baseball Game Preview: St. Bernard's Crusaders vs. St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs

The St. Bernard's Crusaders will venture away from home to challenge the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Bernard's has 11 straight wins, St. Vincent de Paul has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

St. Bernard's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Hoopa Valley.

Meanwhile, St. Vincent de Paul came up short against Santa Rosa on Thursday and fell 11-6.

Wyatt Hansen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

St. Bernard's pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. Vincent de Paul, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

St. Vincent de Paul's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Bernard's hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for St. Vincent de Paul, though, as they've only averaged .186. Will they be able to contain St. Bernard's hitters?

St. Bernard's couldn't quite get it done against St. Vincent de Paul in their previous matchup back in March of 2017 as they fell 5-1. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
