Basketball Recap: Northgate Comes Up Short

Northgate was the 87-62 winner over Miramonte when they last played one another back in January of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Broncos were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 57-56 to the Matadors. While the Broncos didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Matadors 19-8 in the first quarter.

Northgate's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Marko Djurdjic, who went 9-for-19 to rack up 23 points and five rebounds, and Rufus Lee, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 13 points and four steals. Djurdjic has become a key player for the Broncos: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 8-9 otherwise. Dax Gordon was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Northgate has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Miramonte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
