Flint Academy hadn't done well against Clariden recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Falcons escaped with a win against the Cougars by the margin of a single free throw, 41-40. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 40-17 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Clariden had strong showings from Ian Chung, who posted 18 points, and Prium Patel, who put up 18 points. The contest was Chung's third in a row with at least 18 points.

The win made it two in a row for Flint Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one points across that stretch. As for Clariden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Flint Academy and Clariden will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Falcons see the court they'll take on Harvest Christian Academy on January 9, 2026. As for Clariden, their break will end when they face Winston School of Dallas at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
