Softball Recap: Redwood Drops Season-High Score on Archie Williams

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Redwood). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Giants have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nobody will forget Stella Belluomini's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Archie Williams' batters): she turned in a perfect game.

At the plate, Ava Brown was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Elle McElreath, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.

Redwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Redwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Archie Williams, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Redwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-5 victory against Terra Linda on the 14th. As for Archie Williams, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against American Canyon on the 3rd.
