Recap: Jefferson Saints vs. Middle Park Panthers
The Jefferson Saints struggled with assists on Thursday (the Middle Park Panthers had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Jefferson suffered a tough 68-43 loss at the hands of Middle Park. Jefferson has not had much luck with Middle Park recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Antonio Lynch, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Lynch is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Fajardo, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Leading Middle Park to victory were Weston Wiedel and Joey Gagnon. Wiedel scored 19 points along with seven assists and four steals, while Gagnon dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Wiedel hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Luke Paugh was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Middle Park, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Jefferson and Arvada will face off at 4:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Arvada is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season. As for Middle Park, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Bennett at 4:30 p.m. Middle Park has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 213 points over their last three matchups.
