Softball Recap: De Soto Takes a Loss

De Soto and Cashton pushed the score to 19-0 the last time they played Cashton, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Pirates took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The match marked the first time this season in which the Pirates were not able to get on the board.

Ella Koch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, De Soto saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sylvia Krueger, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Krueger has snagged this season.

De Soto is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6. As for Cashton, they pushed their record up to 9-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De Soto will take on Seneca at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cashton, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Hillsboro at 5:00 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season.
