Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Audrey Teasley and Madison Smith Lead C.B. Aycock to Victory

C.B. Aycock won the last time they faced East Wake and things went their way on Tuesday too. The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons came out on top against the East Wake Warriors by a score of 35-23. Given the Golden Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Warriors are ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

C.B. Aycock was led to victory by Madison Smith and Audrey Teasley. Smith dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards, while Teasley posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. C.B. Aycock is 11-1 when Smith posts ten or more rebounds, but 0-3 otherwise.

C.B. Aycock was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Wake only posted three assists.

Despite the loss, East Wake saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kylen Clack went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points along with five boards and three steals. Clack continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

The win made it two in a row for C.B. Aycock and bumps their season record up to 11-4. As for East Wake, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

C.B. Aycock wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-27 victory against Southern Wayne on the 29th. East Wake has also already played their next contest, a 55-22 win against Smithfield-Selma on the 30th.
