Southside is a perfect 3-0 against Bertie since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Southside Seahawks will challenge the Bertie Falcons at 5:00 p.m.

While Southside's win against Bertie wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Southside won by a run and slipped past Bertie 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

For Bertie's part, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kysean Hyman, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The dominant performance gave Hyman a new career-high in hits. Nicholas Wiggins also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Bertie is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.5 runs. As for Southside, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Southside has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bertie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts.
