Baseball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Green Valley Gators

For the second straight game, Basic will face off against Green Valley. The Wolves will welcome the Gators at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Basic 4, Green Valley 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Basic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Green Valley, who was ranked sixth at the time (Basic was ranked third). The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Gators on Tuesday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Johnny Villarreal tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Andruw Giles was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Basic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Lord, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

Green Valley's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Basic, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
