Basketball Recap: Broadneck Comes Up Short

After flying high against Old Mill last Tuesday, Broadneck came back down to earth. The Broadneck Bruins were beaten by the South River Seahawks 68-33 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-36 back in December of 2024.

Broadneck's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for South River, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Broadneck and South River should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings. Broadneck will challenge Severn Run at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 202 places (47 vs. 249). Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive. Similarly, South River (ranked 38th) will meet Meade (ranked 147th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Broadneck is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
