Volleyball Preview: Tri-Village Patriots vs. Houston Wildcats

Tri-Village has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will venture away from home to face off against the Houston Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Two weeks ago, Tri-Village didn't have quite enough to beat Dixie and fell 3-2.

Tri-Village actually scored more points across those five sets (100-89), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 13-25, 25-20, 11-25, 15-13.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Mylee Bierly, who had 27 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Pipenger, who had 17 digs, a kill, and 24 assists.

Even though they lost, Tri-Village was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.

Meanwhile, Houston came into Saturday's match having lost 12 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Franklin Monroe on Saturday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20.

Tri-Village's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Houston, their win bumped their record up to 4-19.

Tri-Village took their victory against Houston in their previous matchup back in August by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri-Village since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
