Softball Game Preview: Marlboro Central Dukes vs. Guilderland Flying Dutchmen

The Marlboro Central Dukes will take on the Guilderland Flying Dutchmen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Marlboro Central will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Marlboro Central came out on top against Rondout Valley on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Dukes walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Ganders.

Meanwhile, Guilderland hadn't done well against Shenendehowa recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Flying Dutchmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Plainsmen.

Hallie Czajka and Alyssa Griffin did most of the damage at the plate: Czajka went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Griffin went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Czajka's first of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Guilderland lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Marlboro Central's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Guilderland, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
