Football Game Preview: Carlynton Cougars vs. Charleroi Cougars

Carlynton will head out to challenge Charleroi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carlynton has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 22.

Carlynton managed to slip by Washington the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cougars were beaten by the Prexies 62-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Prexies are ranked 204th).

Meanwhile, Charleroi had to suffer through a 47-12 loss at the hands of Waynesburg Central. The Cougars have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Carlynton will have to contain Elijah Allah as he made an impact in Charleroi's last game. He rushed for 165 yards and one TD while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. Max Holmes helped out on the ground, rushing for 82 yards.

Carlynton's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Charleroi, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-8.

Everything came up roses for Carlynton against Charleroi in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 54-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carlynton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
