Basketball Recap: Federal Way Takes a Loss

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-16, which was the final score in the Federal Way Eagles's tilt against the North Thurston Rams on Thursday. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Sierra Vaifale was Federal Way's leading scorer, having posted six points. Elia Baker held things down on the boards with five rebounds. Meeghan Meagher took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Thurston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shayla Cordis, who went 10-for-19 en route to 26 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Cordis is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 53% in the last three games she's played. Soraya Ogaldez was another key player, going 11-for-22 to rack up 23 points and seven steals.

Federal Way has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for North Thurston, their win was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1.

Federal Way wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-42 loss against Gig Harbor on the 15th. As for North Thurston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 94-60 victory against Lincoln on the 15th.
