Carthage came tearing into Friday's contest with 16 straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.5 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Liberty-Eylau Leopards 47-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Leopards are ranked 445th).

Carthage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kj Edwards, who rushed for 104 yards and one TD on only six carries. Edwards' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jett Surratt was another key passer, throwing for 224 yards and three touchdowns.

Carthage's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Liberty-Eylau, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Carthage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 56-34 win against Chapel Hill on the 19th. As for Liberty-Eylau, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 41-38 victory against Bullard on the 19th.
