Baseball Recap: Millburn Comes Up Short

Millburn fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rutgers Prep on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Argonauts. The Millers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Millburn got a good showing from Leo Dalton, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Dalton has allowed since back in April.

On the hitting side, Greg Rosenthal was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Millburn's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Rutgers Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9-1.

Millburn will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Essex at 4:00 p.m. on September 23, 2026. As for Rutgers Prep, they will challenge St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday.
