Softball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Find Success

Charlotte Catholic proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since May 11, 2024.

Rachel Wildman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Wildman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Danika Morris, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Morris has posted since back in March of 2024.

Charlotte Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Fort Mill and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Charlotte Catholic Cougars face off against Providence Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Catholic is on a three-game streak of home wins, Providence a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Fort Mill, they will square off against Indian Land at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
