Basketball Recap: Purchase Line Takes a Loss

Purchase Line played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 61-36 to the Homer-Center Wildcats. The Red Dragons haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Purchase Line lost, don't look at Stephen Perruso. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Perruso a new career-high in points.

Max Voyda continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Homer-Center, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. Voyda's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Alexander, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with six blocks and five assists.

Purchase Line's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Homer-Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purchase Line won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Conemaugh Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Conemaugh Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Purchase Line likes a good challenge. As for Homer-Center, they will challenge Marion Center at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Homer-Center has three straight wins, Marion Center has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
