Baseball Recap: Fortuna Comes Up Short

Fortuna had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 3-14 to make it five. They lost 7-0 to the McKinleyville Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Huskies have lost by exactly seven runs.

Fortuna saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chandler Crenshaw, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Crenshaw has hit this season.

As for McKinleyville, their win bumped their record up to 15-4. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

On McKinleyville's side, not much got past Joe Tanno, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Fortuna off the board. Tanno has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

While Fortuna had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
