The Calera Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Benjamin Russell Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calera is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Calera ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They walked away with a 66-59 victory over Chilton County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Russell waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 65-38 win over Chilton County. Given Benjamin Russell's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Chilton County is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calera's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-19. As for Benjamin Russell, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Calera suffered a grim 92-70 defeat to Benjamin Russell in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Calera avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
