Baseball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge Panthers vs. Saginaw Rough Riders

The Fossil Ridge Panthers will take on the Saginaw Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Fossil Ridge took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Paschal 3-1.

Meanwhile, Saginaw can bid farewell to their 19-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Chisholm Trail 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rough Riders have posted since April 13, 2024.

Grayson Chancellor made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Vincent Gonzalez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Izaiah Zepeda was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Fossil Ridge's win bumped their record up to 7-19-2. As for Saginaw, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 4-23-1.
