Basketball Recap: Desert Pines Find Success

Desert Pines won against Rancho Verde on Friday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Desert Pines Jaguars came out on top against the Shadow Ridge Mustangs by a score of 56-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Desert Pines found their leader in freshman Aaron McMorran, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. McMorran has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Robles, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

The win got Desert Pines back to even at 4-4. As for Shadow Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Desert Pines will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pacifica Christian/Orange County at 8:00 p.m. on January 4th. Desert Pines knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Pacifica Christian/Orange County likes a good challenge. As for Shadow Ridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-60 victory against Boulder City on the 26th.
